Quantity Surveyor – Middlesbrough TS17
Salary: £59,000 per annum (includes £6,700 car allowance) plus pension, healthcare and profit share (9% last year).
Our client, a leading property services company with over 75 years of experience, invites an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Response Team (Housing Response and Maintenance) in Middlesbrough.
Responsibilities
- Price materials and labour for responsive repairs workstreams using Schedules of Rates (SORs), managing the financial performance of each work to completion.
- Analyse and manipulate data with advanced Excel skills to identify cost‑saving opportunities and deliver efficiencies across contracts.
- Manage the financial and technical aspects of contracts, including procurement, budgeting, direct labour targeting, subcontractor management, invoicing, payments, cash flow and cost control.
- Minimise costs and maximise value and profit while ensuring all work meets labour targets for agreed performance.
- Develop and maintain open and trusting relationships with the workforce, customers, subcontractors, suppliers and the client.
- Produce monthly contract valuations of the unit's actual deliverables against the projected budget (CVRs).
- Deal with direct labour, timesheets, CVRs/Valuations and sub‑contractor engagement.
- Live within easy travel of the Middlesbrough area.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in a commercial Quantity Surveying role, ideally with SOR contracts and social housing clients.
- Strong ability to minimise cost, maximise value, profit and cash flow.
- Excellent IT and Microsoft Excel skills; ability to process high volumes of data analysis.
- Experience with direct labour and subcontractor procurement.
- Formal qualifications or surveyor training.
- Experience in reactive maintenance and high‑volume jobs with analytical/spreadsheet focus.
