Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join the West Yorkshire team. The role focuses on developing client relationships, monitoring costs, and ensuring contract compliance across projects.

Candidates should have a BSc in Quantity Surveying and 2–3 years’ contracting experience, with strong communication and a proactive, deadline-driven approach. Rail sector exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSc Quantity Surveying (or similar) required.
• 2–3 years' experience in a contracting environment.
• Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised.
• General knowledge of NEC forms of contract desirable.
• Experience with Civil Engineering in the Rail Sector desirable.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement.

• Supply commercial information and reports to Senior QS and Commercial Manager (CVR's, valuations, cash flow).

• Oversee certification of payments/variations and settle final accounts.

Job description

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our clients existing team based in their West Yorkshire office.

• Develop client relationships by maintaining regular contact and meetings
• Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets
• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements, ensuring all contract correspondence is recorded
• Supply relevant commercial information and reports to the Senior QS and Commercial Manager for review, such as CVR's, periodic valuations/ applications and cash flow forecasting.
• Identify potential financial risks and evaluate options to mitigate these
• Produce, submit and agree final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements
• Liaise with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of subcontract and supplier orders
• Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments/variations and settle final accounts to sub-contractors, in line with agreed terms and conditions

Person Specification:

• BSc Quantity Surveying (or similar) - Essential
• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience working within a contracting environment - Essential
• The ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised - EssentialGeneral knowledge of NEC forms of contract - Desirable
• Experience with Civil Engineering in the Rail Sector - Desirable
• The ability to manage a fast paced, high volume turnover of orders, with high standards of project performance and customer satisfaction
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders
