Job summary

Playle & Partners LLP invites applications for aQuantity Surveyor to join our Sidcup head office. You will deliver projects for public and private sector clients across London and the South East, handling schemes from £500k to £40m, pre and post contract.

Reporting to Partner Quantity Surveyors, you will estimate costs to NRM1, manage procurement and tendering, and maintain project financial control and valuations. Flexible week up to 40% from home post probation.

Qualifications

• MRICS membership preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' quantity surveying experience in consultancy.
• Experience on public sector works desirable.
• Strong organisation, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Proficient with Word/Excel; familiarity with CostX or similar tools.

Responsibilities

The Role

Established in 1954, this is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary practice, where you will play an active role in the delivery of projects to a wide range of public and private sector clients, without the commute into London.

You will play an active role in the delivery of project and professional services to a wide range of public and private sector clients, across London and the South East of England.

The successful candidate will be working directly on schemes ranging from £500,000 – £40,000,000 both Pre and Post Contract. The candidate will be responsible for reporting directly to the Partner Quantity Surveyors.

Day to day task will include but not limited to;

• Cost Estimating to NRM1 standard
• Procurement and Tendering
• Working with JCT Suite of Contracts
• Project Financial Control and Reporting
• Valuations

A detailed understanding of all of the above will be required.

The Candidate

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) (preferred)
• Have a minimum of 3 years relevant professional consultancy experience.
• Have extensive experience of Quantity Surveying and the day to day tasks listed above.
• Require previous experience on a variety of public sector works.
• Be well organised, efficient, using initiative and working to tight deadlines.
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for detail, a commitment to excellence and developing strong client relationships.
• Possess a proactive approach to problem solving and ability to follow these through to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Have proven IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, ideally will have used measurement software CostX or similar.
• Able to identify areas of commercial opportunity for future development.
• Preferably a full UK driving licence and access to a car.
