• Experience in a similar role within the construction sector, including social housing.
• Detailed understanding of Contracts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good analytical, financial, and numeracy skills.
• Proactive team player who can also work well independently.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and evaluate information for realistic cost for supply of works, goods, materials, and services.
• Manage the commercial relationship with clients.
• Produce accurate forecasts of project costs to completion in line with budgets.
• Review contract conditions impacting the commercial status of each project.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Welfare, and Legal requirements.
• Manage work to maintain individual Client/Customer care.
• Advise on claims for loss and expense.
• Carry out commercial evaluation of all projects after completion.

Thorn Baker has teamed up with one of the UK's leading property maintenance and refurbishment groups. A national presence serving sectors such as social housing, defence, hotel and leisure, healthcare, and education, with a turnover of c.£250m and around 1,000 employees, they have grown significantly over the last few years. To support their continued and ambitious growth plans to double in size in the next 4 years, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Shepshed Office.

What's in it for you:

• £45,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on applicant and experience + car allowance and bonus scheme

Your Responsibilities:

• Obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for a number of designated projects / contracts
• Manage the commercial relationship with clients
• Produce accurate forecasts of project costs to completion in line with budgets and report any changes that may affect project costs and/or timescales
• Fully review and highlight the contract conditions that impact, and may impact, the commercial status of each project prior to commencement, detailing all risks and key rules to the project delivery team
• Ensure individual contract information complies with Health, Safety, Welfare, and Legal requirements, ensuring it meets quality standards
• Manage work to maintain individual Client/Customer care requirements
• Advise, formulate, and submit claims for loss and expense
• Carry out commercial evaluation of all projects after completion
