Job summary

Mitie in Scotland is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) team, supporting the Ministry of Defence across South Scotland. You will lead commercial activities for a substantial Billable Works programme ranging from £25,000 to £5 million.

This role sits within a contract delivering a substantial £70–£80 million programme of works, including refurbishments, new builds and specialist defence infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
• Experience delivering complex defence projects.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Manage contractual and commercial aspects of the Billable Works programme.
• Prepare subcontractor tender enquiries and assess returns.
• Negotiate contract variations with clients and subcontractors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and monthly reporting.
• Monitor project performance and mitigate commercial risk.

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) team, supporting the Ministry of Defence across South Scotland. Reporting to the Principal Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a significant Billable Works programme, providing commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from £25,000 to £5 million.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a contract that is already delivering a substantial £70–£80 million programme of works, with projects including refurbishments, new builds and specialist defence infrastructure improvements.

Role Responsibilities:

• Managing contractual and commercial aspects of the Billable Works programme.
• Preparing subcontractor tender enquiries and assessing commercial returns.
• Negotiating, pricing and agreeing contract variations with clients and subcontractors.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and monthly reporting.
• Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities to mitigate commercial risk.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
• Proven experience delivering projects of comparable complexity and value.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
