Job summary

MCR Property Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for an exciting pre-construction and construction phase across three new build apartment blocks in Rochester. You will support the commercial management of a contractor-led residential project, focusing on cost control, procurement and commercial controls.

Qualifications

• Cost control: monitor project costs, commitments and expenditure against budgets.
• Valuations: prepare, review and agree valuations for work completed, including subcontractor valuations.
• Variations: identify, assess, price and manage changes to the works, maintaining records and approvals.
• Procurement: support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers and work packages.
• Subcontractor management: administer commercial arrangements and review progress.
• Forecasting: maintain cost forecasts and identify impacts on outturn position.
• Commercial reporting: produce reports and provide timely commercial information.

The project involves the pre-construction and construction phases of 3 new build apartment blocks. The role will support the commercial management of a contractor-led residential project, with responsibilities spanning cost, procurement, subcontractor and commercial controls.

Role summary

The Quantity Surveyor will contribute to the financial and commercial management of the project from a contractor’s perspective. The role requires practical experience across residential new build, residential design and interior projects, together with the ability to monitor costs, manage change and provide accurate commercial information.
The successful candidate will work in a structured, detail-focused way and communicate clearly with project teams, subcontractors and other commercial stakeholders.

Key experience required

Residential apartment and high-rise new build experience, with an understanding of the cost and delivery considerations involved in finishing apartment blocks.
Interior projects, covering the commercial management of finishes, trades, materials and associated subcontract packages.

Qualifications and experience

Minimum qualification: HND in Quantity Surveying.
Minimum professional experience: 5+ years working with a contractor.
Relevant project background: experience in residential new build, high rise and apartment blocks.
