Job summary

ITS Construction Professionals South Ltd is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position in Ringwood, Dorset. You will manage commercial aspects across refurbishment and new-build projects in education, healthcare, and commercial sectors, liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors to ensure projects stay within budget and contractual terms.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Experience on commercial, education and healthcare projects.
• Experience in refurbishment and/or new-build projects.
• Strong cost control and financial management skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and QS software.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.
• Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Reviewing contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Managing subcontractor procurement and tender processes.
• Obtaining, analysing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Preparing and managing valuations, payments and applications.
• Monitoring project costs, variations and change control.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Working closely with the Estimating and Pre-Construction teams.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Attending project and commercial meetings.
• Supporting value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

The role & about the client:

ITS Construction Professionals South are working with an established construction business who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis. The business has a strong pipeline of work across the commercial, education and healthcare sectors, with a mixture of refurbishment and new-build projects. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established team and play a key role in the successful commercial delivery of future projects. You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider commercial and construction teams.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Experience working on commercial, education and/or healthcare projects.
• Experience across refurbishment and/or new-build projects.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supplier accounts.
• Strong cost control and financial management skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Good IT skills, including Excel and relevant commercial/QS software.
• A relevant construction or commercial qualification would be advantageous.
