Gatwick Airport Limited is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Construction team at London Gatwick. The role focuses on cost plans and estimates for projects up to £10 million and supporting larger works as needed. The position follows an office-first hybrid pattern with three days in the office and two remote days.

You will develop cost plans, manage budgets, and assist in procurement strategies, while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver passenger-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience as cost engineer, contract management or commercial role within construction or infrastructure.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent in engineering, construction or business related field.
• Familiarity with web-based contract management tools (e.g., Cemar).
• Understanding of NEC and JCT contract suites and related admin/negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Manage project budgets and ensure value for money.
• Oversee contract communications including Early Warnings, Instructions and Compensation Events; assess contractor notifications.
• Handle disputes through negotiation and collaborative working; escalate when needed.
• Support tendering and evaluation, selecting procurement strategy and producing pre-tender estimates.

This role takes an office first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office, two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.

What is the role?

As a Quantity Surveyor at London Gatwick, you will have the opportunity to work on the full project life cycle of a range of projects depending on the programme to which you are assigned, surrounded by knowledgeable people, with one goal: to deliver what matters to our passengers. This could be in Sustainability helping us achieve our net zero goals or working on logistics to support our Major Projects and Northern Runway programmes.

What will you do?

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the Construction team, responsible for developing and maintaining cost plans and cost estimates for smaller projects (typically up to £10 million), or supporting a Senior Quantity Surveyor with larger value projects. You will work on projects from inception through to completion.

Other duties include:

• Managing project budget, ensuring value for money
• Managing all contract communication, including Early Warnings, Project Manager's Instructions and Compensation Events, and accepting/rejecting Contractors' Notifications
• Managing disputes/potential disputes through negotiation, collaborative working, and escalation
• Supporting the tendering and evaluation process, including the selection of an appropriate procurement strategy and contract, and the production of pre-tender estimates

• Previous experience in a cost engineer, contract management or commercial role within the construction or infrastructure sectors, working on projects typically over £10 million
• Quantity Surveying Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering, construction, or business-related field
• Full working knowledge and understanding of using web-based contract management tools (e.g. Cemar)
• Thorough understanding of the NEC and JCT suite of contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations
