Job summary

CarmichaelUK is seeking experienced Quantity Surveyors for a major MOD infrastructure project in Plymouth. This site-based, long-term contract requires a strong background with Tier 1 contractors or JV on large civil engineering schemes.

You will handle cost reporting, valuation, procurement, and NEC contract administration, among other duties. Candidates should have HNC/BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, NEC experience, and driving licence; MOD/defence exposure and BPSS clearance are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Significant Quantity Surveying experience within major civil engineering/infrastructure.
• Tier 1 contractor, JV or comparable major-project experience.
• Strong NEC contract experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• RICS/ICE accreditation advantageous.
• Previous MOD/defence experience advantageous.
• BPSS security clearance is required.

This is a long-term, site-based contract opportunity suited to QSs with a strong background working for Tier 1 contractors or joint ventures on major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The role will involve:

• Cost reporting, forecasting and budget management.
• Measurement and valuation of works.
• Subcontractor procurement and commercial management.
• Certification and payment of subcontract accounts.
• Cash-flow management.
• NEC contract administration.
• Change control and client communications.
• Commercial and contractual risk management.
• Working closely with the client, project management and delivery teams.

We're looking for:

Due to the nature of the project, BPSS security clearance is required, including checks relating to nationality, citizenship, place of birth and residency history.

The position is 100% site based in Plymouth, with no hybrid working. A lodge allowance is available for candidates working away from home.
