Job summary

Abatec Ltd. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a high-value civil engineering and marine project at a strategic UK naval base in Plymouth.

The role focuses on supporting critical defence infrastructure with secure and regulated environments, reporting to a Managing Quantity Surveyor. The candidate should hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, have Civil Engineering contractor experience, and be familiar with NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

• Liaise with project teams to ensure accurate valuations and applications for payment.
• Conduct risk and value management and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

An exciting opportunity to join the commercial team of a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a major £100m infrastructure and marine engineering project at one of the UK’s most strategically important naval bases. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to contribute to high-value, technically complex works within a secure environment and play a key role in supporting critical national defence infrastructure.

As Quantity Surveyor you will:

• Be part of a commercial team, reporting into a Managing Quantity Surveyor.
• Be responsible for managing subcontractor applications and payments and inputting data.
• Manage the commercial and contractual requirements of assigned projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies.
• Liaise with project teams to ensure accurate valuations and applications for payment.
• Conduct risk and value management and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or similar
• Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract (NEC3 or NEC4 preferred).
• Ability to work effectively within secure and highly regulated environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management tools.
• SC (Security Clearance) or ability to obtain clearance due to nature of the project
