Job summary

ERSG Ltd seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major infrastructure upgrade programme in Scotland. The role is on a freelance basis with a hybrid working arrangement in Glasgow, Scotland, and requires SC clearance or eligibility.

The successful candidate will handle commercial management, cost planning, NEC contract administration and supplier oversight within a highly regulated setting, contributing to a long-term defence-related project.

Qualifications

Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure

Location: Glasgow, Scotland / Hybrid

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a major infrastructure upgrade programme in Scotland.

The project is being delivered within a highly regulated and security-sensitive environment and involves significant civil engineering, building, M&E and infrastructure works supporting a major UK defence facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience and a background in major infrastructure or other regulated sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial management of allocated projects and work packages.
• Cost planning, forecasting, reporting and cost control.
• Management of variations, change control and NEC compensation events.

Essential Experience

• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Experience within nuclear, defence, energy, rail, water, T&D, major civils or other regulated environments would be highly advantageous.

Security & Working Arrangements

Due to the sensitive nature of the programme, SC Security Clearance is required, or candidates must be eligible to obtain it.

UK nationals only; dual nationals cannot be considered.

The role is based in Scotland, with approximately 2–3 days per week on the project site and the remainder working remotely under the agreed hybrid arrangement.
