Job summary

Wates is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to lead on exciting projects across the Northern region, delivering cost management, value for money, and proactive financial control through the project lifecycle.

You will collaborate with project managers and clients, prepare detailed estimates and tender documents, manage subcontractor accounts, and contribute to final accounts and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost management, budgeting and value engineering.
• Ability to prepare tender documents and predict project costs.
• Strong collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.

• Subcontractor Liaison: Manage subcontractor accounts, including negotiating contracts, handling valuations, and payments.
• Financial Reporting: Provide accurate financial reports, forecasts and cost analysis to support decisions.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks within budget.
• Final Accounts: Lead preparation of final accounts and settlement of costs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, clients and stakeholders to ensure delivery.

The role:

As our Quantity Surveyor you will take the lead on exciting projects and help us deliver them to the highest standards. You'll play a crucial role in managing costs, ensuring value for money, and supporting the overall project lifecycle from inception to completion. What you'll be doing:

• Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and cost analysis to support project decision-making.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks, ensuring projects stay within budget and meet financial targets.
• Final Accounts: Lead the preparation of final accounts, including the resolution of contractual claims and the settlement of costs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and successful project delivery.
