Job summary

Kitson Associates is working with an established housebuilder in Nottinghamshire to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for its commercial team. You'll join a close-knit team reporting to the Commercial Manager and take commercial ownership of live developments.

The role offers a competitive basic salary, car allowance or company car, a bonus paid in two instalments each year, and a clear route to Senior QS with progression based on performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' quantity surveying experience working for a UK housebuilder or contractor.
• Confident handling several trades, subcontractors and deadlines at once.
• Commercially minded with sound judgement on cost and value.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial ownership of live developments and manage two sites (plus a third potential).
• Prepare and manage site budgets, cost plans and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Value subcontractor work, process monthly valuations and agree final accounts.
• Support procurement with tendering, subcontractor selection and awarding packages.
• Manage variations, contra charges and commercial disputes with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Produce accurate monthly cost reports and commercial reviews for the Commercial Manager.
• Visit sites regularly to measure work, check progress and build relationships with site teams.
• Spot and act on opportunities to protect margin and control costs.
• Keep commercial records up to date in COINS or similar systems.

Quantity Surveyor - New Build Housing

Kitson Associates is working with an established housebuilder who is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Nottinghamshire. You'll join a close-knit commercial team and report to the Commercial Manager.

• Spot and act on opportunities to protect margin and control costs
• Keep commercial records up to date in the company's systems (COINS or similar)

About you

• You might be an Assistant QS ready to step up, or a Quantity Surveyor looking for broader responsibility.
• Essential: Minimum two years' quantity surveying experience working for a UK housebuilder or contractor
• Confident handling several trades, subcontractors and deadlines at once
• Commercially minded, with sound judgement on cost and value
• Happy to work from the office five days a week and visit sites as needed
• Full UK driving licence and within a reasonable commute of Nottinghamshire

Desirable:

• Knowledge of COINS, although training can be given
• A relevant qualification (HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or similar), or working towards one.
