Job summary

Gateley is seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join its Residential team in Nottingham. You will lead projects, supervise junior staff, and act as Employer's Agent on design and build works while ensuring high standards of service.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, ideally with RICS membership, and a minimum of 3 years' experience. Travel across the UK is expected as required by site locations.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or related field.
  • Chartered member of RICS or commitment to achieve within 3 years.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience running own projects quantities or project management.
  • Proficiency in measurement, ideally CostX Measurement Software.
  • Experience running projects independently.
  • Strategic, analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Skilled negotiator with driving licence and willingness to travel UK sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on a range of construction projects and supervise assistants and apprentices.
  • Be principal contact with client and other consultants on the design team.
  • Deliver Gateley RJA QS/PM services across projects you manage.
  • Stand in for Associate or Senior QS when needed.
  • Act as Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects.
  • Follow the Quality Management System in service delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects and develop time management strategies.
  • Provide exceptional service to all clients.
  • Undertake a minimum of 20 hours CPD per year.

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Quantity Surveyor with consultancy experience who is dedicated to providing an excellent service to join our growing and successful Residential team in Nottingham.

We are seeking applications from experienced Employer's Agent's and Quantity Surveyors who have a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field, and ideally, a Chartered member of the RICS.

You willbe responsible forthe following:

  • Taking the lead on a range of construction projects and supervising the work of the assistants and apprentices in your team and helping them to fulfil their potential.
  • Acting as the principal point of contact with the project client and the other consultants on the design team.
  • Working independently and taking responsibility for the successful delivery of Gateley RJA's QS / PM services on all projects you and your team are working on.
  • Actively looking to take on additional responsibility and able to stand in for the Associate or Senior QS when they are unavailable.
  • Acting as Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects.
  • Following the company Quality Management System in the delivery of all services.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and developing excellent time management strategies.
  • Treating all clients to exceptional level of service.
  • Undertaking a minimum of 20 hours Continuing Professional Development every year.

The person

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Degree level in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field.
  • Ideally, a Chartered member of the RICS, or a commitment to achieve Chartered status within 3 years of starting
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in running own projects quantity surveying and / or project management for either a Private Practice, Construction Company or related organisation.
  • Proficiency in measurement, ideally using CostX Measurement Software.
  • Experience in running projects independently.
  • Strategically minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Driving licence and own car. Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required.
