Our client, a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor with over 25 years of experience, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team covering sites across Nottingham/ Newark-on-Trent and sown to Huntingdon when not on site will be based in their office outside Leicester. With a turnover exceeding £250 million and over 1,500 employees, they operate nationally, delivering high-volume residential groundwork packages for some of the country's most respected housebuilders.

Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
  • Managing all project costs from tender through to final accounts
  • Preparing and reviewing tenders with the estimating team and identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Monitoring and managing variations, claims and client instructions
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts
  • Maintaining cash flow and ensuring timely payments and valuations
  • Reporting regularly on cost/value reconciliations and forecasting
  • Working closely with site teams to understand project progress and risks
  • Building strong relationships with client commercial teams and suppliers
  • Mentoring and developing junior members of the team as required

Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role (either as Assistant QS or QS)
  • Background in residential groundworks preferred, although general residential construction experience will be considered
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • Strong numerical, commercial, and contractual knowledge
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with cost reporting tools
  • Effective communicator with good organisational ability
  • Clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required

Quantity Surveyor Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £3,000 - 5,000 DOE
  • Company car or 40/month car allowance + fuel card
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
