Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited in Loughborough is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established client on a full-time, permanent basis. You will support contract and project teams with commercial and financial management, monitor costs, value contracts, and mitigate commercial risk in the rail division. The ideal candidate has NEC/JCT experience and CSCS is preferred. A UK driving licence is required.

Job description

We’re recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our well-established client in Loughborough on a full time, permanent basis.

Salary: £50,000 - £55,0000 per annum (depending on experience).

Hours: 39 hours per week working 07:45 - 16:45 Monday - Thursday and 07:45 - 14:15 Friday.

The Role:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Contract and Project Manager team with all aspects of commercial and financial management. Monitoring, recording an analysing costs and resources and enhancing the value of contracts through effective financial control. Assist with reviews of contracts to mitigating our client's commercial risk through appropriate use of contracts with particular emphasis on providing commercial support to the rail division.

Our client is steel fabrication specialist, therefore, experience within the steelwork industry is crucial for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide QS support and services to the Contract and Project managers.
• Assist Contract and Project Managers in the application and development of contract programmes.
• Ensure activity schedules and application dates are understood and followed in line with the contract requirements.
• Administer valuations and the pricing of variations.
• Report to Contract and Project Managers any anomalies on a Client account.
• Maintain records cost value reconciliations (profit and loss).
• Development of knowledge relevant to contract conditions.
• Monitor job costings against quoted figures raising any anomalies with the Contract and Project Managers.
• Assist Contract and Project Managers with procurement of goods and services, and liaise with the purchasing department.
• Chase agreement on prices.
• Ensure applications are completed on time with Commercial Manager and Contract/Project Manager
• Ensure timely completion of all relevant information for Commercial Manager to liaise with Contract Manager on the final account.
• Liaise with other departments within the Company.
• Liaise and negotiate with the client and members of the professional team.
• Understand the implications of the Health & Safety Regulations.
• Attending meetings, both internally and externally, to support commercial requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience in construction and steel quantity surveying, including NEC and JCT contracts.
• Ideally CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
• Hold a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying.
• Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally.

• Must be well organised with good time management skills.
• Have an accurate and methodical approach to maintaining financial and commercial information.
• Basic understanding of the wider construction processes.
• Good understanding and competency with the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and Microsoft Projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
