Are you ready to join a leading team at the forefront of capital project delivery? At UK Power Networks, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor offering a salary of £65,241, and a 3% bonus to join our Capital Programme, Commercial and Performance team based at our Newington House office. Step into a role where your expertise shapes the success of major projects, your professional growth is championed, and your contribution is valued every day.

In this pivotal role, you'll report to the Commercial Lead and provide vital quantity surveying support to the Capital Programme and Procurement Delivery across a portfolio of long-term contracts. You'll be entrusted with managing commercial matters relating to contract set-up, pricing, service delivery, scope changes, and dispute resolution, ensuring every aspect aligns to standards while maximising profit delivery. Your leadership will shine as you support project teams-composed of Programme Managers, Project Managers, Designers, Planners, Consents Surveyors, and Administrators-to deliver on the vision for each project.

You will act as the commercial lead, or provide support for larger projects, ensuring compliance with UKPN guidelines and reporting non-conformance as needed. You'll facilitate smooth project progress by collaborating with both company and external partners, supporting the preparation of activity schedules, tender documents, and full analysis of tenders. Your advice to Portfolio and Project Managers will help ensure contracts are delivered to expectations and reporting deadlines are consistently met. Resource management across your workload will ensure each contract receives optimal commercial attention, while your mentorship of junior staff fosters growth and confidence within the team.

Your analytical skills will be essential in producing quality reports, questioning decisions when necessary, and supporting payment assessments. You'll work closely with Project Managers to update risk registers, identify and mitigate principal risks, and advise on contract applications-predominantly NEC3. As a key player in change control procedures, you'll also participate in annual rate reviews and review contractor subcontracts for policy compliance. Your collaborative mindset will help resolve contract issues, prepare documentation in case of disputes, and advise on alternative strategies for resolution, liaising with both internal and external legal advisors as required.

To succeed, you'll bring proven quantity surveying experience in complex, high-value contracts. A relevant degree is preferred, but candidates with substantial relevant experience will be considered. You should be working towards professional membership in RICS, CIOB, ICES, or another relevant Chartered Institute, and demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP. Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills are a must, along with the ability to make informed, balanced decisions and present findings with confidence. An IOSH Certificate is an advantage, though health and safety training will be provided.

If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding career where every day brings new opportunities to make a difference, UK Power Networks welcomes your application.
