Job Description

About AssetCool

AssetCool is addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the global energy transition - grid congestion. By combining cutting-edge grid robotics with breakthrough materials science, our technology transforms the physical performance of the grid in situ, increasing current-carrying capacity by up to 30%, at just 5% of the cost and in a tenth of the time compared to conventional approaches.

In addition to enhancing capacity, our solutions tackle other grid constraints including corrosion, electrical noise, and enable the collection of high-value data to build accurate, predictive digital twins. This technology is proving transformative and is being adopted at an accelerating pace, with deployments across Canada, Slovenia, the UK, and the USA, and a strong global deployment pipeline.

AssetCool is a fast-growing company with plans to more than double in size over the next six months. Backed by international investors from the US, mainland Europe, and the UK, we are proud to be one of the most innovation-focused companies in the UK energy sector.

We’re looking for ambitious, mission-driven individuals who are excited to work hard alongside their colleagues to build and deploy world-leading technology that tackles some of the planet’s most urgent infrastructure challenges.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly organised, commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to manage the financial and contractual aspects of our field-based deployment projects. This is not a traditional construction QS role — you’ll be applying your expertise to support international logistics, high-tech installations, and the delivery of innovative technologies in global energy markets.

This role will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, while managing supplier contracts, project risk, and procurement activities across multiple international sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage cost estimates, project budgets, and expenditure tracking for field-based deployments.
  • Lead procurement activities for suppliers, subcontractors, and services (e.g. shipping, accommodation, vehicles, PPE).
  • Support international logistics of equipment (robotics, chemical coatings, etc.) including documentation and commercial oversight.
  • Draft and manage commercial contracts and agreements with third parties.
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations, and variations as required.
  • Conduct cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and produce financial reports for leadership.
  • Monitor and report on the financial status of projects, including cash flow and expenditure.
  • Provide commercial guidance to operational teams to ensure project profitability, including risk management.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender documents and manage the bidding process.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding costs, contracts, and budget changes.
  • Prepare and present reports on project progress and financial performance.
  • Manage risk registers and advise on mitigation strategies for delivery and commercial risks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant contractual and legal frameworks across international jurisdictions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent experience in a commercial or project delivery role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, procurement, and commercial risk.
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to produce forecasts and track financial performance.
  • Knowledge of contract administration and cost reporting practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident working across multiple international locations and time zones.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in international logistics, field services, or non-construction project delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with NEC, JCT or other major contract frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management tools.
  • Background in energy, renewables, or infrastructure sectors.

Why Join AssetCool?

  • Work on groundbreaking technology revolutionizing the power grid.
  • Fast-growing startup with significant industry traction and large-scale projects.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities.
  • Competitive salary, and flexible work options
