Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a commercial role, e.g., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor.
  • Registered with RICS/ICES, working towards chartership.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and prepare valuations.
  • Control of cost reports and administer subcontractor accounts.
  • Identify commercial risks and manage contract changes.

Murphy is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work with the Energy Team on the National Grid, Yorkshire Green Project.

A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor

  1. Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  2. Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract.
  3. Control of cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documentation.
  4. Preparation and management of subcontractor and material procurement schedules.
  5. Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorization of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  6. Undertake contract administration, including change management, and maintain associated registers.
  7. Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change.
  8. Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  9. Measure quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement as required.
  10. Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  11. Draft subcontracts including professional services.
