Job description

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Duration: Permanent
Salary: Circa £55,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 06:00 to 14:30

Purpose of the Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Head of Commercial in maintaining relationships with key clients and managing key sub-contractor accounts. You will be expected to work across various construction projects, with strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and experience in a project-based construction environment. Proficiency in computer systems is essential, particularly in managing PPM schedules and parts inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process sub-contractor payments.

  • Re-measure sub-contract works for valuations.

  • Prepare quantities/schedules for sub-contract procurement.

  • Issue sub-contract documentation.

  • Prepare interim project valuations.

  • Generate monthly financial reports.

  • Attend project and client meetings as required.

  • Liaise with site personnel to obtain records and verify works claimed.

  • Value and negotiate variations in accordance with contract conditions.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company policies.

Qualifications & Training
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • In-depth knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and their application in construction or engineering projects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and contract management software.
