Cumming Management Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors.

Cumming Management Group are seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor in Buckingham.

The role of a Quantity Surveyor includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Management and delivery of QS services within our residential team (social housing) – earning projects
  2. Support, develop and improve the professional and interpersonal skills of the team
  3. Ensure staff are aware of, and are delivering, their responsibilities
  4. Ensure clients always receive an exemplary level of service and performance from yourself and the team
  5. Always represent the company in a professional and confident manner
  6. Full commercial contract administration from tender to final account.
  7. Procurement and negotiation process associated to a project and subsequent supply chain management.
  8. Production of cost and value reconciliations along with the forecasting on a monthly basis for all projects.
  9. Manage the Risk and Opportunity processes, ensuring mitigation measures are identified and implemented at the correct time to benefit the project.
  10. Work individually or as part of a team to deliver the client deliverables.
  11. Client office and site visits will be required within role.
  12. Potential to work on multiple contracts at any one time, with potentially different clients.
  13. Ensure that the company standards are adhered to on all works undertaken.
  14. Ensure the successful delivery of contracts you are dealing with, in a timely manner and to the highest standards.

Key Attributes:

The ability to –

  1. Experience within Social Housing sector.
  2. Suitable experience of undertaking QS duties
  3. Experience in either planned, responsive or project-based works.
  4. Be able to make informed decisions for the benefit of our clients
  5. Commercial negotiation skills in a Quantity Surveying setting
  6. Energetic, self-motivated and able to take a flexible and adaptable approach
  7. Understanding of contract (JCT suite / NEC)
  8. Commercially astute and numerate
  9. Well organised and able to plan effectively.
  10. Present and report information in a clear and concise manner
  11. Possess clear and concise communication skills – written and spoken
  12. Able to produce both summarised and detailed reports
  13. IT literate, especially in terms of Microsoft Office/Excel

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline
  2. Working towards Chartered status (Preferably)
  3. Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in construction industry
  4. Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client
  5. A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
  6. Likeable and warm personality which will fit in and become an integral part of the team
  7. A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
