Overview

We are working with an established regional main contractor near Winchester to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the established commercial team. They operate in the commercial, industrial, education, NHS and local authority worlds on schemes up to £30 million in the Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex areas, with recent schemes in Southampton (£6 million) and Fareham (£5 million).

Responsibilities
  • Work with pre-construction teams and directors at contract award stages to support procurement and initial cost planning.
  • Take ownership of on-site package management and site financial matters, including payments, valuations, variation accounts, CVR, forecasting, and planning for multiple projects.
  • Manage multiple projects and junior team members, providing guidance and assigning tasks as appropriate.
  • Operate with day-to-day autonomy within an agreed framework to make decisions that suit the project and business needs; contribute to training and development of junior and trainee team members.
  • Collaborate with local clients and trusted supply chain partners to deliver projects successfully.
About the candidate
  • Experience with Tier 1 or 2 main contractors is desirable; ability to work locally on a range of projects and schemes.
  • Strong focus on procurement, cost planning, payments, valuations, variations, CVR, forecasting and project planning.
  • Effective people management skills and the ability to support and develop junior staff.
