Job summary

ARC Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a permanent role in Ongar. The position manages all commercial aspects of construction contracts to ensure profitability and alignment with client needs.

The role requires strong knowledge of building law, contract law, and statutory requirements, plus excellent communication and teamwork. You will contribute to social housing projects within a well-established contractor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Tier 1/2 contractor.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial management ability.
• Knowledge of building law, contract law, and statutory requirements.
• Excellent organizational and presentation skills; good teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all Quantity Surveying duties on contracts.
• Direct and control all financial and legal aspects of contracts to ensure profitability.
• Maintain relationships with client and client team.
• Prepare loss and expense claims arising from extended time claims.
• Ensure all subcontractors are on approved list.
• Collaborate with contract team to manage design and build changes for financial benefit.
• Ensure information schedules include financial or legal elements.
• Establish procurement strategy and schedule aligned with project deliverables.

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Type: Permanent, Full time, 8am-5pm

Location: Ongar

Salary: £62,000 - £65,000 per annum and company car allowance

Company & Project:

Our client, a well-known family run social housing contractor is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor:

• To undertake all Quantity Surveying duties on your contracts.
• To direct and control all financial and legal aspects of your construction contract ensuring that it is profitable.
• To be aware of the company's business plan and its aims
• To establish, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships with the client and all members of the client's team.
• Prepare any loss and expense claims arising out of the extension of time claims.
• Ensure all subcontractors are on our approved list
• Working with the contract team to manage the design on a design and build contract with a view of ensuring that changes are made for the financial benefit of the company.
• Working with the team to ensure that the request for information schedule Includes and financial or legal elements
• To establish a procurement strategy, with a procurement schedule In line with the time requirements of the operational and design deliverables for the project.

Desirable Experience required to work as a Quantity Surveyor:

• A very high level of commercial awareness of the industry
• A good knowledge of, building law, the law of contract and statutory requirements.
• An understanding of financial management.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
