Job summary

Quantity Surveyor role based in North Devon for a privately owned regional main contractor. Office-based and covering North and Mid Devon with 1-3 live projects valued up to £5m across housing, heritage, commercial and public sector sectors.

You will estimate and manage commercial performance from pre-construction to final account, prepare interim valuations, procure and manage subcontract packages, and report on cost performance while liaising with clients and site teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Running 1-3 projects at any one time
• Project values up to £5m across housing, heritage, commercial and public sector work
• Estimating projects and managing them commercially to completion
• Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and payment applications
• Procuring and managing subcontract packages, including tendering and valuing works
• Cost reporting, forecasting and monitoring project profitability
• Managing variations, change control, and contract compliance
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams throughout the project lifecycle

Quantity Surveyor - Regional Main Contractor - North & Mid Devon

We are recruiting on behalf of a privately owned, successful regional main contractor based in North Devon. With a strong pipeline of repeat business from long-standing clients, our client delivers a diverse range of new build housing, heritage, commercial, and public sector projects up to £5m in value.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent, office-based role.

Quantity Surveyor Role:

• Office-based role covering projects across North and Mid Devon
• Running 1-3 projects at any one time, depending on value and complexity
• Project values up to £5m across new build housing, heritage, commercial, and public sector work
• Estimating projects before running them commercially through to completion
• Full commercial management from pre-construction to final account
• Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and payment applications
• Procuring and managing subcontract packages, including tendering and valuing works
• Cost reporting, forecasting, and monitoring project profitability
• Managing variations, change control, and contract compliance
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams throughout the project lifecycle

Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
• Experience estimating and running projects commercially
• Experience across new build housing, heritage, commercial, or public sector projects advantageous
• Good working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contract forms
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
• Full UK driving licence essential
