Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for property services projects in London. The role focuses on the commercial management of planned maintenance, refurbishment and wider residential upgrades, delivering value while safeguarding margins.

You'll work closely with operational teams and subcontractors, own procurement, cost reporting and final accounts, and build strong client relationships across social housing programmes. Confidential discussions available.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost control, valuations and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of planned maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Prepare and review cost reports, CVRs, forecasts and financial reports.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and protect margins by identifying commercial risks.
• Collaborate with operational teams to support project delivery.
• Manage client valuations, payments applications and commercial negotiations.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and report on project performance.

The Opportunity

I'm looking to connect with Quantity Surveyors working within property services, social housing and refurbishment for an opportunity with an established contractor operating across London.

The business delivers housing maintenance and improvement programmes, with projects covering planned works, refurbishment and wider residential property upgrades.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working closely with operational teams and building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account, helping ensure work is delivered efficiently and profitably.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing the commercial performance of planned maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Preparing and reviewing cost reports, CVRs, forecasts and financial reports.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Monitoring project costs, identifying commercial risks and protecting margins.
• Working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery.
• Managing client valuations, applications for payment and commercial negotiations.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting on project performance.

About You

I'm keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have experience in one or more of the following:

• Social housing, property services or residential refurbishment.
• Planned maintenance, kitchens and bathrooms, roofing, windows and doors.
• Fire remediation, building safety or external refurbishment.
• Main contracting or specialist subcontracting environments.
• Subcontractor procurement, cost control, valuations and final accounts.

You’ll need strong commercial awareness, good communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across live projects.
