Job summary

A leading construction firm is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for the Banwell Bypass project in Somerset. Job description

Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure

Location – Banwell

What you will be doing

Galliford Try has an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Banwell Bypass project, Somerset. You will be working closely with the commercial manager to assist in commercial administration, reporting and performance. You will ideally be based locally, although we are open to subsiding relocation.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in creating a safe working environment.
  • Produce subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices and programme, and subsequently manage the subcontract works packages.
  • Produce and issue all commercial notices to both the client and subcontractors as required.
  • Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
  • Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR).
  • Produce and maintain a detailed ‘Cost Plan’, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of subcontractor liabilities and use of Oracle based cost analyses.
  • Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit.
About you
  • Have a good appreciation of standard forms of contract and solid knowledge of construction processes.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word and contractual and cost management systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant commercial environment.
  • Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally incorporated member, working towards a full membership (desirable).
