Your Team Responsibilities

The MSCI Index Management Research (IMR) Team is a global client-centric research group responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of MSCI index methodologies across various asset classes, primarily focusing on equities, ESG & Climate, Factor, and Thematic indexes. The team operates in multiple key regions worldwide.

The IMR group conducts index policy research, methodology consultations, and market research related to MSCI’s market classification review. It also manages index rebalancing activities.

The team collaborates closely with other research groups (such as New Product Development, ESG Research) and departments across MSCI (including data, technology, and product teams) to implement its research agenda, leveraging global resources and expertise.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate in Index Management Research, you will contribute to developing and refining ESG and Climate index methodologies and investment solutions. You will manage client interactions related to ESG and Climate index topics, including in-person and virtual meetings, and oversee index rebalancing and data accuracy.

You will also engage in index policy research and support new product development initiatives.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Responding to client queries regarding index methodologies within your region.
  • Discussing a wide range of index topics, ensuring ESG and Climate indexes incorporate current trends and regulatory developments, and adhere to market portfolio management principles.
  • Managing ESG/Climate indexes throughout their lifecycle, including rebalancing and error correction.
  • Participating in client consultations and engagement activities.
  • Collaborating with internal teams such as ESG Research, Product Management, Coverage, IT, and DCS to ensure project success and contribute to organizational goals.

Skills and Experience Needed:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, with ESG/Climate expertise as a plus.
  • Strong understanding of equity index investing and construction; knowledge of other asset classes is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with index maintenance, portfolio management, and replication techniques across asset classes.
  • Experience working on a Portfolio Management desk is beneficial.
  • Excellent client management skills.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis and Python programming.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
