Your role in the team

The Enterprise Economics & Risk Analysis (EERA) team is a cross-functional group operating at the core of decision-making at Allstate. The team quantifies and optimizes risk and return leveraging a comprehensive economic capital model. Led by the Chief Economist, the team includes members in the USA and UK and reports to the Chief Risk Officer, providing advice directly to the CEO, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Economic Capital branch of EERA to support economic capital decision-making and business-wide risk analysis. The role involves performing quantitative analysis and research, specifically dynamic multi-factor risk modeling and scenario analysis. It will also support the development of our Economic Capital framework based on multivariate conditional time series analysis. The team comprises econometricians, economists, quantitative analysts, coders, and financial analysts.

Key responsibilities
  1. Research, develop, and implement time-series models across investment, underwriting, and other risk types.
  2. Assist in managing and improving the enterprise risk modeling framework and scenario analysis.
  3. Support the Measurement Science Center of Excellence in designing and evaluating metrics for key Allstate initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Legal right to work in the UK; Allstate does not sponsor visas for this role.
  • A PhD in Econometrics or a related economics field, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in time series modeling.
  • Programming skills in Matlab, R, or Python.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of Bayesian Econometrics.
  • Risk modeling experience.
  • Understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, and risk management.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to non-experts.
  • Strong prioritization and deadline management skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory duties.
