Job Description for Quant Analyst at Shell Energy Europe & Africa

Quant Analyst is a position based in London, reporting to the Trading Quant Lead within Shell Energy Europe & Africa (SE-EA).

Responsibilities include:

1. Improving analytics and modelling to enhance commercial activities within SE-EA, focusing on modelling trade capabilities, providing innovative solutions, building synergies across product lines, rationalizing tools, and developing a scalable quant platform.
2. Bringing advanced Python, machine learning, and coding skills, along with expertise in commercial quant modelling and pricing (including hedge recommendations) for Renewables/PPA, batteries, and other energy technologies.
3. Having relevant experience in asset optimization and modelling in spot markets, intra-day markets, ancillary services, and imbalance costs.
4. Collaborating closely with Trading, Structuring, BD, Fundamentals, and Trading Technology/IT teams to meet business goals.

Minimum requirements include:

1. Significant experience in commercial/quantitative roles within renewables, batteries, Flex/NewTech, and spot markets, with a proven track record.
2. Strong market knowledge, commercial insight, and the ability to quickly identify opportunities and value drivers.
3. Excellent execution skills, trustworthiness, and the ability to operate under time pressure.
4. Proactive mindset for proposing improvements and changes.
5. Understanding of credit, market, financial risk, and LoaD.
6. Strong stakeholder management skills, engaging with GM/RTL/Traders, BD, DS teams.
