Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive automated and performance testing across healthcare education software platforms. The role focuses on quality engineering best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design test strategies and improve automation frameworks.

You will work to ensure products meet requirements and quality standards, while researching tools and approaches to enhance testing capabilities and overall product quality.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of quality engineering methodologies, including test strategy, test-case design, defect management, risk-based testing, and acceptance-criteria coverage.
  • Experience with the software development process and testing across SDLC.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience driving quality practices across functional, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing including performance and accessibility testing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute automated and performance testing for assigned projects to enable delivery of high-quality software on time and on budget.
  • Collaborate with Product, Project, Engineering and Operations teams to plan testing and ensure product requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt priorities to business needs.
  • Plan and execute automated and performance tests with QA/Testing staff and project leads.
  • Document issues and results, identify root causes, and report findings clearly.
  • Ensure testing addresses requirements as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Research and implement tools to enhance testing capabilities and product quality.
  • Identify root causes of performance issues with architects, developers, and network/system engineers.

About The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products through automation, performance testing, and quality engineering best practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute test strategies, improve automation frameworks, and help drive a culture of quality across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute automated and performance testing for assigned projects to successfully and consistently enable delivery of high-quality software products and services on time, on budget, and to specification.
  • Interact with Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to plan testing for delivery of products and enhancements and to assure products meet product requirements and quality standards.
  • Maintain flexibility to react quickly to changes in priorities or circumstances to meet the needs of the business.
  • Work with QA/Testing staff, project managers, technical leads, and subject matter experts to plan and execute automated and performance tests.
  • Report issues and results, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate, documenting accordingly.
  • Ensure that testing addresses requirements as agreed with other stakeholders.
  • Research available tools and participate in initiatives to implement those that will cost-effectively enhance testing capabilities and product quality.
  • Research and identify root causes of performance issues in partnership with architects, developers, and network and system engineers.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of quality engineering methodologies, including test strategy, test-case design, defect management, risk-based testing, and acceptance-criteria coverage.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership of overall product quality and experience driving quality practices across functional, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing, including performance and accessibility testing.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to distinguish test-design issues from genuine system defects in complex, distributed environments.
  • Strong experience creating, maintaining, and enhancing test automation frameworks.
  • Experience using Playwright with TypeScript or JavaScript for browser-based, end-to-end, and API testing.
  • Strong API test automation experience using REST Assured with Java, or equivalent API-testing libraries.
