Position: Quality Technician

Location: Cardiff

Job Type: Permanent

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

Job Purpose:

Provide an inspection service for incoming goods supporting the Quality Control Inspectors. Monitor, control and investigate material that is submitted as non-conforming and liaise with suppliers where necessary for claims and supplier corrective action requests, also provide assistance to the manufacturing and complaint process where problems should arise relating to product/component/assembly. Perform internal audits of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems and external supplier audits as determined by the audit schedules.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Headline 1

Generate appropriate plans for the inspection of incoming goods. Support the Quality Inspectors for inspection of incoming goods according to the relevant inspection plan and arrange disposition of inspected goods.

Headline 2

Liaise with the Senior QRE Engineer where incoming material requires approval through the sample approval process and complete sample approvals when requested.

Headline 3

Maintain records of rejected materials through the Claims system and liaise with suppliers/manufacturers where Supplier Corrective Action Requests are required.

Headline 4

Investigate and control the disposition of non-conforming material identified throughout the manufacturing process.

Headline 5

Provide support to production relating to non-conforming material, assemblies or products.

Headline 6

Perform internal audits of both the Quality and Environmental Management Systems to the agreed schedules. Perform external audits of suppliers as determined by the Supplier Audit schedule.

Headline 8

Form part of the team that collects and presents quality data presented into the monthly/annual CAPA report and minutes.

Other:

Support the Senior QRE Engineer and Quality Control Manager where required.

Quality System Duties and Responsibilities:

Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Each organization shall have sufficient personnel with the necessary education, background, training, and experience to assure that all activities required by this part are correctly performed and shall establish procedures for identifying training needs and ensure that all personnel are trained to adequately perform their assigned responsibilities. Training shall be documented.

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s, inclusive of Maths and English with grades C or better. Essential
  • Electronic/Mechanical Technical qualification. Desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge and experience of the Divisions’ products and processes. Desirable
  • Qualified Internal Auditor. Desirable
  • Computer literate – Excel, Word, Outlook. Desirable

  • Williness to learn and contribute to higher level activities

Permissions:

Each organization shall establish the appropriate authority, and interrelation of all personnel who manage, perform, and assess work affecting quality, and provide the independence and authority necessary to perform these tasks.

  • Approve acceptance of material based on inspection plan passing assessment
  • Reject materials that fail inspection plan assessment
  • Has the authority to make decisions of disposition of non conforming material
