They work in a highly regulated sector where accuracy, traceability and documentation are non-negotiable. This role is about proving that every product meets what the customer specified, and having the records to back it up. You’ll check parts against customer drawings and requirements, keep documentation to a high standard, and work directly with customers on quality matters.

Key responsibilities
  • Checking products, first-off samples and production batches against customer requirements, specifications and CAD drawings
  • Doing precise dimensional inspection with hand measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and bore gauges) and, where available, CMM or vision systems
  • Reading and interpreting 2D/3D CAD drawings, including tight tolerances and GD&T, to build inspection plans and acceptance criteria
  • Writing and maintaining controlled quality documentation, including inspection records, first article reports, validation protocols and reports, batch records and certificates of conformity
  • Supporting process and equipment validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Making sure work is fully traceable and follows good documentation practice
  • Being a point of contact for customers on quality: answering technical queries, supporting customer audits, and handling concerns and complaints
  • Investigating non-conformances and supporting root cause analysis and CAPA
  • Working with production and engineering so customer requirements are understood and controlled from the start
  • Supporting the quality management system and internal and external audits
Requirements
  • Experience in a quality technician or inspection role in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience validating products against customer requirements and specifications
  • Experience dealing directly with customers, with confidence on the phone, by email and face to face
  • Strong dimensional measurement skills with a range of inspection equipment

  • A meticulous, organised approach to documentation and record-keeping
  • Good IT skills (Excel, Word, and ideally a CAD viewer or electronic QMS)
  • CMM programming or operation
  • Experience of validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) or first article inspection
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 or similar quality standards

  • An engineering or quality qualification (HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent)
