Job summary

HUBER+SUHNER Polatis in Cambridge seeks an Operations Quality team member to support building world class products for the communications industries in a Lean Manufacturing Environment. You will assist with assembly, inspection and test of micro – components, incoming material quality and commission testing, and non-conformance investigations.

You will develop manufacturing standards and documentation, and engage in key product and process projects to drive Total Quality Management and customer

Qualifications

• Evidence of strong practical skills essential to perform assembly, inspection and test.
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of processes and how to implement them.
• Able to interpret engineering proposals and liaise with other disciplines.
• Capable of following work instructions and creating them if required.
• Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision and contribute ideas to improve quality and yield.
• Familiar with using Microsoft Excel or MES systems for data entry and tracking.

Responsibilities

• Test products or subassemblies for function or quality.
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
• Manage waste in accordance with policies and transport accordingly to waste collection points.
• Prepare and assemble materials.
• Set up and operate test equipment per manufacturing procedures.
• Assist Engineers in developing, building and testing prototypes, new products, processes or procedures.
• Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using calipers, micrometres, gauges.
• Inspect materials (Electronic, Mechanical) and prototype parts for IQI, IQL, OQL as directed.
• Maintain logs and tracking documentation and systems.
• Participate in planning, scheduling and meet delivery deadlines.
• Develop, prepare and create documents such as standard work instructions and batch records.

Your tasks

As part of the Operations Quality Team, you will be helping to build world class products for the communications industries, within a Lean Manufacturing Environment.

This will involve: assembly, inspection and test of micro – components

Incoming material quality and commission testing of electronic components as part of engineering design and process development.

Data analysis of the precision manufactured parts for the development of concepts and prototypes, in addition to determining pass, fail or rework approach as part of Non Conformance investigations.

Development and creation of manufacturing standards and associated documentation.

Engagement in key Product and Process related projects in support of driving TQM and Customer Satisfaction.

• Inspect materials (Electronic, Mechanical) and prototype parts and assemblies for IQI, IQL, OQL as directed for quality and adherence to company, supplier and customer specifications


• Manage and keep up to date logs and tracking documentation and systems


• Participate in planning and scheduling and manage time to meet agreed on time delivery


• Develop, prepare and create documents. For example Standard Work Instructions, Batch records, quality reports, productivity reports


• Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for Health and Safety and Environment compliance


• Manage work area to agreed 5S standards


• Measure and record data associated with equipment and processes, product development


• Communication with peers, Engineers, management team and cross functional departments
