Quality Technician

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring products meet the highest standards through inspection, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role
As a Quality Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting incoming, in-process and returned components to ensure they meet specification.
- Carrying out dimensional inspections using metrology equipment including verniers, micrometers and height gauges.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, material certificates and technical documentation.
- Completing First Article Inspections (FAI) and producing detailed inspection reports.
- Maintaining full traceability of quality documentation and certification records.
- Ensuring inspection and measuring equipment is calibrated and compliant.
- Supporting customer audits, supplier visits and certification body assessments.
- Assisting with continuous improvement activities to enhance quality systems and manufacturing processes.
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards and promoting 5S within the department.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- At least 2 years' experience in a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector or similar engineering quality role.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- An engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (preferred).
Desirable Experience
- Experience with advanced inspection equipment such as Faro Arm or CMM.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and internal auditing.
- Background within machining, precision engineering, castings or valve manufacturing.
- Experience using quality tools such as 5 Why and 8D.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of NDT, PMI or hardness testing.
