Job summary

The Magnum Ice Cream Company in Gloucester is seeking an interim Quality Technician to join the busy Quality team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The role is full-time for 3 months with potential extension, working 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday. Salary is £28,800 per annum, pro rata, with exposure to retention samples, QMS administration and audits.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level.
• Experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Laboratory, or Technical Administration environment.
• Good understanding of QMS and document control processes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain retention samples and label, store, and track items.
• Administer QMS documentation and ensure records are current.
• Create, update and maintain TrackIT records and reports.
• Provide quality input to NPD projects and validations.
• Support internal quality audits and CAPA actions.

Job description

Manpower is recruiting an interim Quality Technician on behalf of our global FMCG client, The Magnum Ice Cream Company, home to iconic brands including Magnum, Ben & Jerry's, Cornetto and Wall's. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment and become part of a busy Quality team.

The role is based at the Barnwood site in Gloucester and is a full-time temporary position for 3 months, with the possibility of extension, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role offers a competitive salary of £28,800 per annum, pro rata.

The successful candidate will support key quality activities including retention sample management, quality system administration, internal audits, NPD quality support, and maintenance of quality records. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while contributing to product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

Retention Sample Management

• Maintain and organize retention samples in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure accurate labelling, storage, and traceability of samples.
• Monitor sample retention periods and coordinate disposal activities when required.
• Support investigations and customer inquiries through sample retrieval and assessment.

Quality Systems Administration

• Maintain and update quality documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Support document control activities, ensuring procedures, work instructions, and records remain current and compliant.
• Assist in the management and tracking of quality actions and records.

TrackIT System Management

• Create, update, and maintain records within the TrackIT system.
• Monitor quality-related actions, ensuring timely completion and follow-up.
• Generate reports and support data analysis as required.

New Product Development (NPD) Quality Support

• Provide quality-related updates and support to NPD projects.
• Participate in project meetings and track quality deliverables.
• Assist with product validations, documentation reviews, and risk assessments.

Internal Audits

• Support the planning and execution of internal quality audits.
• Document audit findings and assist in tracking corrective actions (Quality One).
• Follow up on audit actions to ensure timely closure.

General Quality Support

• Assist with investigations, non-conformance management, and CAPA activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality department.
• Maintain accurate quality records and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements

• Strong technical background and understanding of food safety management requirements.
• Experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Laboratory, or Technical Administration environment.
• Good understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and document control processes.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
