Job summary

Search is recruiting a Quality Team Supervisor for an established manufacturing operation in East Kilbride. The role oversees 8 Quality Operators across Final Finishing and Inspection, ensuring raw materials and finished goods meet rigorous specifications and customer quality standards.

The position requires a proven background in manufacturing supervision or quality leadership, with strong GD&T and metrology knowledge and a commitment to continuous improvement and compliance with ISO standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan daily and weekly inspection, calibration and wash activities in line with production priorities.
  • Ensure incoming materials meet specifications before entering production.
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) per ISO standards.

Quality Team Supervisor

Location: East Kilbride
Salary: 40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Wednesday: 7:00am - 5:15pm Thursday: 7:00am - 4:45pm
Contract: Full Time Permanent

We are recruiting for a Quality Team Supervisor to join a busy and growing manufacturing operation in East Kilbride.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production, manufacturing or quality professional with previous supervisory experience to lead a team of 8 Quality Operators across the Final Finishing and Inspection departments within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring incoming raw materials and components conform to specification before entering production, while also ensuring finished products consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards prior to dispatch. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance and supporting operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of 8 Quality Operators across the Final Finishing and Inspection departments, ensuring all products comply with customer specifications, ISO standards and relevant regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
  • Planning and allocating daily and weekly inspection, calibration and wash activities in line with production priorities and customer delivery deadlines.
  • Adapting to changing shop floor priorities to ensure urgent customer requirements are met and production bottlenecks are minimised.
  • Managing the inspection and verification of incoming raw materials and components to ensure they meet supplier and internal quality specifications before being released into production.
  • Supervising in-process quality inspections and ensuring finished goods are inspected and approved in line with customer specifications, engineering drawings and quality requirements prior to dispatch.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing Quality Inspectors and Wash Operators, identifying skills gaps and promoting cross-training to increase team capability and flexibility.
  • Monitoring departmental KPIs and quality performance, analysing trends and implementing actions to improve accuracy, efficiency and overall performance.
  • Maintaining and continually improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and all applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting internal, customer, supplier and certification audits, ensuring audit findings and corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Investigating non-conformances, customer complaints and quality issues using Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8D and CAPA methodologies to prevent recurrence.
  • Producing quality reports, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement across scrap, rework, customer complaints, supplier quality and compliance.
  • Ensuring the consistent application of engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, inspection plans and process documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer Service teams to resolve quality issues and support customer requirements.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, strengthen process controls, improve operational performance and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Promoting a culture of quality, continuous improvement, right-first-time manufacturing and compliance with Health & Safety standards.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing Supervisory, Quality Supervisor, Quality Lead, Quality Manager or Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing environment.
  • An HNC/HND in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 would be advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, metrology, calibration, manufacturing processes, inspection techniques and quality control equipment.
  • Experience inspecting incoming materials, in-process production and finished goods against customer specifications.
  • Proven experience maintaining and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with ISO standards.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of quality improvement methodologies, such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, Lean Manufacturing and DMAIC.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for driving quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
