Vitaflo (International) Ltd are currently looking to recruit a full-time, 18 months Quality Systems Specialist. The role will be hybrid and based at the global Vitaflo head office which is situated just outside of Liverpool city centre. Quality Systems Specialists support the factory and our co-manufacturers focusing on key areas of expertise such as food safety, food defence, HACCP, auditing, traceability, hygiene, and pest control.

What will you do?

As the Quality Systems Specialist, your role will involve a range of important responsibilities, including:

  • Investigating root causes of customer complaints and non-conformances, and collaborating with relevant parties to implement effective preventative actions.
  • Fostering a strong culture of quality and commitment across all functions within the organisation.
  • Management of QMS to align with ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000.
  • Working alongside the Quality Systems Manager to establish operational objectives that align with our goals.
  • Defining and updating quality procedures, instructions, and tools within your area of expertise.
  • Contributing to the development and monitoring of quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Serving as the HACCP team leader for Vitaflo’s on-site production facility.
  • Participating in Halal and Kosher audits, as well as various compliance projects.
  • Supporting the unit's preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Performing and coordinating Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits.
  • Assessing allergen risks to ensure accurate labelling of products.
  • Completing the supplier approval process for raw materials and packaging items.

Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining our high standards of quality and food safety.

What skills and experience should you have?

To be successful in the role, we would like the successful applicant to possess the following:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Qualification as an internal auditor; lead auditor status would be advantageous.
  • HACCP and Food Safety Level 3 certification.
  • Demonstrable experience in complaint reduction initiatives, non-conformance management, and root cause analysis.
  • A solid understanding of various manufacturing technologies, such as dry powder blending, can/sachet filling, aseptic liquid processing, infant requirements, and zoning.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A keen eye for detail with the ability to identify areas for improvement to then follow up leading change effectively.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships across departments, markets, and factories.
  • Proficiency in IT applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and databases.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and prioritisation skills.
