A regional healthcare provider in the UK seeks an Imaging Quality and Service Improvement Lead to oversee quality management and clinical governance within the imaging department. The role involves leading quality initiatives, managing incidents, and ensuring compliance with national directives. The ideal candidate must have significant experience in radiology quality improvement and a strong understanding of clinical governance. Our Imaging Quality and Service Improvement (QSI) Lead works alongside the Radiology Team Leads and supervisors to facilitate the effective delivery of clinical governance through robust quality management within the departmental clinical governance framework.
This role is responsible for assuring patient safety and that Imaging clinical practice is in keeping with evidence-based practice, clinical guidelines, professional recommendations, and implementation of national directives. A key aspect of this role supports patient experience and facilitates patient partnership in service evaluation and redesign. This role requires specialist knowledge and significant experience in radiology quality improvement, specifically relating to the implementation and coordination of the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) accreditation.
The post holder is responsible for leading service-wide quality initiatives, interpreting audit data, engaging with regulatory bodies such as CQC and QSI, and overseeing document control and compliance systems. The role also involves chairing meetings, training staff, and contributing to strategic planning and policy development across the service.
This role is responsible for the clinical governance activities within the imaging department, including management of incidents, associated improvement actions, and departmental risk register.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
