The Quality Operative plays a vital role in ensuring that our products/services meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold quality standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Oversee internal quality control in areas such as customer complaints, stock deliveries, QC audits, and new product arrivals.
- Develop and maintain robust QC processes, including sample inspection and initial inspection for new products.
- Create and manage a product complaints system to track and report issues.
- Conduct product surveillance activities like incoming goods and dispatch inspections, e.g., AQL inspection.
- Manage customer product returns, verify compliance, diagnose faults, and report issues per service agreements.
- Maintain documentation of inspections, daily actions, and feedback to the quality manager.
- Collaborate with the product team to review complaints and determine investigation or corrective actions.
- Rework defective stock as needed.
- Facilitate internal QC audits and support external audits by bodies like CERTIFIRE and BSI.
- Review incoming stock against specifications and liaise with suppliers and relevant teams on issues.
- Work collaboratively across departments to align and implement product strategies.
- Perform additional duties such as re-packing, re-labeling, and organizing product rework as required.
- Support the department's adherence to high standards, including 5S methodologies.
- Conduct monthly health and safety observations to promote safety culture.
Key Skills:
- GCSE/A-Level or equivalent; technical qualifications in quality assurance preferred.
- Experience in quality assurance within manufacturing or production, including product inspection.
- Knowledge of quality management principles, tools, and standards (ISO, Six Sigma, Lean).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with quality testing equipment, measurement tools, and software; understanding of GD & T is a plus.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and address complex issues.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
