My client, a growing company in the heart of Newton Abbot is currently seekig an experienced Quality Manager. The successful candidate will live within a commutable distance f the office as this is an ON-SITE role

Job Summary:
The Quality Manager is tasked with reviewing and overseeing all aspects of quality assurance and control within the organization, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards, including American Petroleum Institute (API) requirements. This fixed-term role involves assessing the current Quality Management System (QMS) to equip the business for future growth as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System (QMS):
Review the current ISO 9001-compliant QMS and suggest improvements
Ensure compliance with ISO9001, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Lead internal and external quality audits, including supporting the US with API audits.
Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies for quality matters.
Quality Department future requirements
Assess people requirements for the quality team going forward.
Provide training to staff on quality standards and best practices.
Assess and allocate all resources needed to meet quality goals and operational demands.
Foster a culture of quality and compliance.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and implement solutions using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
Monitor and analyze quality metrics to track performance and identify trends.
Drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Customer and Supplier Quality:
Address customer quality concerns promptly, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain high standards for incoming materials.
Liaise with the Procurement Specialist to conduct supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure alignment with company requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality inspections, audits, corrective actions, and compliance activities.
Prepare quality reports and present findings to senior management, including reviewing KPIs and proposing improvement plans.
Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and industry standards, including API and environmental requirements.Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:.
5+ years of experience in quality management within the manufacturing/engineering industry.
Proven experience managing Quality compliance in an SME environment.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and API standards.
Proficiency in quality management tools (SPC, FMEA, MSA, etc.).
Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
Certifications (Desirable):
Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification or API-specific training.
Lead quality initiatives in a dynamic and growing SME environment.
