gap technical are proud to be representing this manufacturing business in their search for a Quality Manager to work at their facility based near Blackburn.

Performance Objectives

• Quality Management System (QMS): Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the QMS in line with ISO 9001 standards and other relevant certifications applicable to the industry.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and product enhancement, leading initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance quality outcomes.
• Quality Assurance: Establish and monitor quality control processes across design, production, and supply chain activities to ensure consistent delivery of high-standard products.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small quality team, fostering a proactive attitude towards quality and continuous improvement among all staff.
• Audits & Compliance: Plan and conduct internal audits, coordinate external audits, and ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and industry best practices.
• Root Cause Analysis: Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and defects, using data-driven techniques to implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs to embed a quality-focused mindset and continuous improvement principles across the workforce.
• Supplier Quality: Collaborate with procurement to assess and improve supplier performance, ensuring incoming materials meet required standards.
• Performance Metrics: Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and continuous improvement, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, production, and sales teams to integrate quality and improvement initiatives into all stages of the product lifecycle.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Quality Manager or similar role within a design and manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems, with ISO 9001 certification experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
• Leadership experience with the ability to influence and engage a team of 60+ staff.
• Familiarity with UK manufacturing regulations and standards.

Desirable:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
