Job summary

Allied Protek in North East Lincolnshire seeks a Quality Manager to ensure goods meet the highest standards of quality and compliance across engineering and fabrication. You will lead quality planning, welding, inspection, NDT, documentation and audits in a hands-on workshop environment.

The role collaborates with Production, Engineering and Project Management to resolve quality issues and maintain traceability, with a focus on ISO 9001, EN 1090 and BS EN ISO 3834 requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a quality role within engineering, fabrication, welding or similar industrial environment.
• Good knowledge of fabrication inspection and quality requirements.
• Experience with WPS, PQR and welder qualifications.
• Experience with NDT and inspection activities.
• Experience producing Quality Plans, ITPs and manufacturing/quality packs.
• Experience dealing with NCRs, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and EN 1090 desirable.

Responsibilities

Description

Summary:

As a Quality Manager in the engineering sector, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Based in North East Lincolnshire, the Quality Manager will provide quality support across the company's engineering and fabrication activities, with responsibility for ensuring projects and workshop activities meet customer, contractual and relevant industry requirements.

The role is hands-on and will cover quality planning, welding, inspection, NDT, documentation, audits and non-conformance. The Quality Manager will work closely with Production, Engineering and Project Management to identify and resolve quality issues and make sure the right inspection and quality controls are in place.

The role will also coordinate quality resources when required and support the Assurance Manager in developing the company's quality systems and processes.

This permanent, full-time position is essential for maintaining our reputation for excellence in the industry.

Responsibilities of Quality & Inspection:

• Provide day to day quality support to the workshop and projects.
• Plan and coordinate inspection activities and ensure suitable resource is available.
• Prepare and review Quality Plans, ITP’s and inspection requirements.
• Review drawings, specifications and scopes to identify quality and inspection requirements.
• Arrange and manage NDT and review NDT reports and radiographs.
• Carry out coating inspections where required.

• Ensure fabrication and inspection activities are carried out in line with approved procedures and customer requirements.

Welding:

• Develop and maintain WPS’s and PQR’s.
• Manage welder qualifications and prolongations.
• Review welding requirements and ensure suitably qualified welders are available.
• Prepare and review welding and inspection test packs.
• Maintain welding and inspection records and traceability.

Documentation:

• Prepare and maintain manufacturing and quality packs.
• Ensure material certificates, inspection records, weld records, NDT reports and other quality documentation are complete and traceable.
• Maintain material and component traceability throughout manufacture.
• Compile and review final quality dossiers, manufacturing record books and lifetime records.
• Ensure documentation is completed progressively and outstanding information is identified and closed out before project completion.

NCR’s & Improvement:

• Raise and manage NCRs.
• Carry out root cause investigations and agree corrective actions.
• Monitor corrective actions through to close-out.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements.
• Work with Production and Project teams to resolve problems and prevent reoccurrence.

Audits & Compliance:

• Carry out internal and supplier audits.
• Support customer and certification audits.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and customer requirements, including ISO 9001, EN 1090 and BS EN ISO 3834.
• Support the Assurance Manager with the ongoing development of the Quality Management System and certification requirements.

Resource & Team Support:

• Coordinate quality and inspection resource for workshop and project activities.
• Identify resource requirements and raise these with the Assurance Manager.
• Provide technical guidance to Quality Engineers, Welding Inspectors and other quality personnel when required.
• Support recruitment, training and development of quality personnel as the function grows.

Cost & Planning:

• Plan quality and inspection activities to support production and project programmes.
• Ensure quality resources are used efficiently.
• Coordinate external inspection and NDT services.
• Develop in-house inspection capability where practical and commercially beneficial.
• Monitor quality-related costs within agreed budgets.

Safety:

• Follow company SHE procedures and lead by example.
• Work with the SHE team on relevant initiatives.
• Promote good safety and quality practices within the workshop and on projects.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Relevant qualifications such as CSWIP, IWI, PCN, NDT, coating inspection or ISO 9001 auditing would be advantageous.
