Job summary

Elix Sourcing Solutions is looking for a Quality Lead / Senior Quality Engineer in Poole to own and continually improve the AS9100 quality system. Responsibilities

• Perform 8D problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Lead the quality inspection team, including CMM measurements.
• Provide quality metrics and support production planning.

Quality Lead / Senior Quality Engineer

£45,000 DOE

Are you an experienced Quality Engineer with a background in precision engineering, aerospace, defence or nuclear manufacturing looking for your next opportunity?

Our client is looking for a Quality Lead / Senior Quality Engineer to take ownership of the quality function, lead the Quality Department and maintain and continually improve their AS9100 quality system.

This is a hands-on role where you'll combine quality leadership with technical inspection, working closely with production, customers and suppliers to maintain high standards and drive continuous improvement.

You'll suit this role if you're an experienced quality professional with strong AS9100 / ISO 9001 knowledge, a background in precision manufacturing and the confidence to lead a quality function while remaining hands-on.

The Role

• Owning, maintaining and continually improving the Quality Management System to AS9100 / BS EN ISO 9001
• Planning and conducting internal, customer and supplier audits
• Managing non-conformances, concessions and production permits
• Completing customer 8D reports and liaising with customer Quality Departments
• Leading, supporting and developing the Quality Inspection team
• Managing the calibration system and supplier quality processes
• Driving Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• Producing quality performance reports and analysis
• Carrying out dimensional inspection of precision components, both in-process and procured
• Operating and programming fixed and portable CMM equipment
• Leading First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and maintaining accurate documentation and traceability
• Promoting a strong quality culture across the business
• Providing support to production and planning when required

The Candidate

• Previous experience in a quality role within precision engineering or manufacturing
• Experience within aerospace, defence or nuclear manufacturing would be advantageous
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and/or BS EN ISO 9001
• Experience with quality management systems, audits and continuous improvement
• Experience managing non-conformances and problem-solving, including 8D and Root Cause Analysis
• Confident reading engineering drawings, CAD models and tolerances
• Experience with dimensional inspection and precision mechanical components
• Experience with CMM, metrology or inspection would be advantageous
• Previous leadership or team-leading experience
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Recognised management/engineering qualification or significant relevant industry experience
