Job summary

Owen Daniels in Derby is seeking a Quality Inspector to support the aerospace manufacturing process. The role focuses on quality control, first article inspection, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements across multiple shifts.

Responsibilities include supporting continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and maintaining measurement standards using verniers, micrometers, and related tools. The position offers shift allowances and a permanent contract in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting a range of components with precision measuring tools.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry, preferably aerospace.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and inspection support for existing and new opportunities.
• Maintain quality control within manufacturing processes in line with standards and customer requirements.
• Check and verify component compliance at all stages of production.
• Conduct First Article Inspection and Non-conformance procedures.
• Identify recurring quality issues and communicate with the chief inspector.
• Assist in quality procedures including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Standardise jigs, fixtures and tooling where possible.
• Support and improve the quality management system and conduct internal audits.

Quality Inspector

We are working with one of the largest international independent manufacturers of metallic aerospace detailed parts. Capabilities include Machining, Assembly, Inspection & Control, Integrated Logistics, Processing & Finishing, Sheet Metal & Fabrication, Speed Shop, Engineering. We are looking for a Quality Inspector to add to the team.

Compensation and Schedule

Permanent (3 Shifts Available)

• Monday-Thursday / 6am-6pm: £18.01 + shift allowance = £19.63 per hour / £48,998.73 per annum
• Monday-Thursday / 6pm-6am: £18.01 + shift allowance = £23.95 per hour / £59,787.44 per annum
• Friday – Sunday / 6am – 6pm: £18.01 + shift allowance = £25.21 per hour / £47,200.60 per annum

Responsibilities

• Provide Quality and Inspection support for both existing and new business opportunities and to develop the Right First-Time philosophy required to become a leading supplier of quality components to the aerospace industry
• Maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements
• Check and verify the compliance of components produced at all stages within the business
• Conduct First Article Inspection procedures & Non-conformance procedures
• Identify recurring quality issues and communicate them to the chief inspector
• Assist in the 5Y quality procedure and produce root cause analysis of product failures
• Incorporate standardisation of jigs, fixtures and tooling wherever possible
• Support, develop, maintain and improve the company’s quality management system and conduct internal audits against the system
• Conduct root cause analyses, SPC and other appropriate quality tools and techniques to ensure that the manufacturing processes meet customer requirements

Essential Experience and Skills

• Well-versed inspecting a range of components/parts using dimensional measurement tools (verniers, micrometres, bore micrometers, height gauges, DTI (Digital Test Indicators) etc.)
• Experienced inspecting parts within a highly regulated industry
