Quality Inspector / Trainee Quality Inspector

Location: Hailsham, BN27 4EL
Salary: Competitive, DOE
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours

We are currently recruiting a Quality Inspector to measure and visually inspect components and assemblies according to drawings, utilizing various metrology equipment.

Your responsibilities will include visually inspecting welds, validating components and assemblies, and recording any defects or features that do not meet specifications.

As our Quality Inspector, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Observing the non-conformance process, taking corrective actions, and ensuring root causes are identified to prevent recurrence.
  • Visually inspecting finished goods for compliance with specifications.
  • Championing the delivery of the required quality standards to our customers.
  • Collaborating with various teams to improve manufacturing processes for first-time quality.
  • Updating KPIs and metrics to drive continuous quality improvement.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • A strong understanding of quality and process management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficiency with a range of metrology equipment commonly used in machine shops.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Previous experience working in the vacuum industry.
  • Qualifications such as BTech, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines.
