Job description

12.85 per hour 32 hours per week Tuesday to Friday

A well-established engineering company is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join their team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will work 32 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, and play a key role in ensuring that manufactured components meet the required specifications.

Job Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections at various stages of the production process.

Conduct gateway inspections to approve component pallets for progression to the next production phase.

Operate a range of measuring tools including micrometers, linear gauges, air gauges, attribute gauges, profile projectors, surface testers, and CNC measurement systems, as well as visual inspections.

Carry out full batch inspections on components that did not pass earlier quality audits.

Conduct dock audits on pallets scheduled for dispatch to customers.

Manage final inspection rejections by identifying usable parts versus scrap, and provide clear feedback to inspection staff.

Use basic computer systems to record and electronically file quality control documentation.

Ensure clear communication and documentation during shift handovers.

Apply a meticulous and inquisitive approach when assessing component quality.

Candidate Requirements

Prior experience in quality control or inspection roles is highly advantageous.

Skilled in using manual and digital measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, verniers, and CMMs.

Able to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.

Comfortable using computers for data entry and record-keeping.

Strong attention to detail with a methodical working style.
