Job summary

Caterpillar Peterlee is seeking a Quality Inspector (BIQ) to join a modern environment with strong manufacturing focus. The role requires MIG welding experience and NVQ Level 3, with the ability to work a 3-shift pattern and maintain meticulous records.

You will inspect fabrications, verify against checklists, and use grinders and handheld tools as part of daily quality tasks. Eligible candidates should have experience in thick plate steel inspection, log findings, and communicate clearly with

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection, with a focus on metal fabrication.
• Must have MIG welding experience and familiarity with thick plate steel.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspection of finished fabrications against a pre-prepared checklist.
• Record results and maintain accurate documentation to support quality processes.
• Use hand tools (grinder) and measuring devices as required.
• Log issues and report to team leads via IPad or digital systems.
• Adhere to health and safety rules and participate in training.

Quality Inspector (BIQ)

Rate: £20.33 (up to £40.66) plus regular overtime and monthly bonuses

Quality Inspectors, are you looking to work in a fantastic, modern environment? Great rates of pay and long term stability?

With strong MIG welding experience and NVQ (or equivalent) Level 3, you would be ideally suited to this position with the ability to work a 3 shift pattern and an eye for detail.

Pay Rate and Working Hours

• 36.5 hours per week
• £20.33 per hour day shift
• £24.40 per hour afternoon shift
• £27.45 per hour night shift
• £30.50 per hour overtime Monday to Saturday
• £40.66 per hour overtime Sundays

Shifts

Days: Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00. Friday, 08:00 - 12:30

Back shift: Monday - Thursday, 16:00 - 00:00. Friday, 12:30 - 17:00

Night shift: Monday - Thursday, 00:00 - 08:00. Friday, 17:00 - 21:30

About you

• Ensure proper entry of record information is maintained along with all appropriate documentation to support
• Must be self-motivated with good attention to detail
• Detailed inspection of finished fabrications against a pre-prepared checklist.
• Ability to use hand held tools (grinder etc)
• Experience in a similar inspection position and working with thick plate steel
• Highlighting issues and reporting via logging on an IPad.
• Good verbal communication skills to report into team leads.
• Must be able to work 3 shifts (days, backs and nights)
• Ideal candidates should have a knowledge of MIG welding such as NVQ Level 3
