Job Description
A Quality Inspector in a heavy manufacturing setting. A Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing products and materials during manufacturing to ensure they meet company requirements. The duties include measuring objects against intended physical specifications, running quality tests, and identifying defects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine quality and reliability standards by studying drawings and formulas; verify specifications with engineering staff.
- Identify raw material conditions by collecting samples; conduct inspections and physical tests of materials.
- Identify in-process product condition by collecting samples during production; conduct in-process inspections and physical tests.
- Determine disposition of finished products by collecting, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting production and quality data; judge product acceptability in comparison to specifications.
- Assess acceptability of rework by conducting inspections and physical tests of reworked products.
- Document finished product status by recording and summarizing inspection and physical test data for raw materials, in-process, and finished products; update quality assurance database.
- Maintain product quality documentation system by writing or updating quality assurance procedures.
- Follow quality assurance policies and procedures to maintain operations; report needed changes.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Expert knowledge of quality expectations and standards.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- General understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and air systems.
- Basic understanding of welding and weld quality.
- Basic understanding of paint processes and quality.
