Job summary

HR GO Group is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector for its Maidstone, Kent manufacturing site. The role involves leading daily inspection activities, first‑off and in‑process checks, and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

You will interpret GD&T, manage inspection records and mentor junior staff, while supporting calibration, audits, and continuous quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in ISO 9001 manufacturing or precision engineering is essential.
• Strong capability in fine limit sheet metal inspection and GD&T interpretation.
• Proven background in senior or lead inspection roles and mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily inspection activities including first‑off, in‑process and final inspections.
• Carry out fine limit sheet metal inspection using measuring equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
• Maintain inspection records, non‑conformance reports and plans.
• Mentor junior inspectors and assist with shop floor planning.
• Work within ISO 9001 standards and assist with audits.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure measuring equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Provide clear quality reports to production and management.

Senior Quality Inspector

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily inspection activities including first‑off, in‑process, and final inspections.
• Carry out fine limit sheet metal inspection using a range of measuring equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
• Maintain inspection records, non‑conformance reports and inspection plans.
• Mentor junior inspectors and support resource planning on the shop floor.
• Work within ISO 9001 standards and assist with audits.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure measuring equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Provide clear quality reports to production and management teams.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
• Strong fine limit sheet metal inspection experience.
• Proven background in senior/lead inspection roles.
• Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
• Proficient with manual inspection tools; CMM experience beneficial.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Experience coaching or guiding small teams.

Desirable

• Formal quality/inspection qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.).
• Knowledge of SPC or quality software systems.
