Job summary

A local engineering firm in Port Talbot is looking for 2 Quality Inspectors to maintain product quality and improve processes. Candidates should have quality inspection experience and knowledge of metrology, along with abilities in reading engineering drawings. This role involves various inspection tasks and supporting the Quality Manager. Flexibility in working hours is offered.

Job description

We are looking to appoint 2 Quality Inspectors to join a well established local engineering company.

If you have the following experience, skills and qualifications then please apply.

The hours of work will be 39 hours with hours being 8am - 4:30pm - although there is flexibility on start times.

Your main role is to:

  • maintain product quality and improve processes and procedures.
  • support the organisation to meet customer expectations
  • support the Quality Manager in executing day to day activities - the measurement and control of components and processes.

Your duties will be to:

  • perform first off and periodic inspection to ensure compliance to drawing
  • using various measuring tools (calipers, vernier, micrometers etc)
  • program CMM machines
  • calibrate measurement equipment
  • write detailed reports on the results
  • advise production staff on "how to" and what equipment to use in their day to day activities
  • look for improvements to negate repeat quality defects

You will need:

  • previous quality experience
  • knowledge of Metrology (advantage)
  • knowledge of Process audit
  • knowledge of APQP and quality core tools, and GD&T (must be able to read engineering drawings.)
